Ingredients :
- Vermicelli semiya - 1 cup
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Channa dal - 1/2 tsp
- Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
- Cashew nuts -1 tsp
- Red chillies - 2
- Green chillies - 2, cut lengthwise
- Curry leaves - few
- Coriander leaves, chopped
- Ghee - 1 tsp
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Water - 3 cups
- Salt to taste
Note:
- Teaspoon (tsp) - 5ml
- Tablespoon (tbsp) - 15ml
Procedure to make Semiya Upma :
- Heat ghee in a non-stick pan over medium flame
- Add 1 cup of semiya, fry it until light golden brown and keep aside
- Heat oil in the same pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal, cashew nuts, red chilli and saute it till golden shade
- Add curry leaves and green chillies, fry it for half minute
- Add 3 cups of water, boil it for few minutes
- In that add semiya and salt to taste, mix it well
- Cover with a lid for 3 minutes until semiya cook completely
- Finally garnish with coriander leaves
- Serve it with any pickle
