Semiya Upma (Quick Breakfast)

Semiya Upma Recipe


Ingredients :
  1. Vermicelli semiya - 1 cup
  2. Mustard seeds -  1/2 tsp
  3. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  4. Channa dal - 1/2 tsp
  5. Urad dal - 1/2 tsp
  6. Cashew nuts -1 tsp
  7. Red chillies - 2
  8. Green chillies - 2, cut lengthwise
  9. Curry leaves - few
  10. Coriander leaves, chopped
  11. Ghee - 1 tsp
  12. Oil - 1 tsp
  13. Water - 3 cups
  14. Salt to taste
Note:  
  • Teaspoon (tsp) - 5ml
  • Tablespoon (tbsp) - 15ml
Procedure to make Semiya Upma :
  • Heat ghee in a non-stick pan over medium flame
  • Add 1 cup of semiya, fry it until light golden brown and keep aside
  • Heat oil in the same pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal, cashew nuts, red chilli and saute it till golden shade
  • Add curry leaves and green chillies, fry it for half minute
  • Add 3 cups of water, boil it for few minutes
  • In that add semiya and salt to taste, mix it well 
  • Cover with a lid for 3 minutes until semiya cook completely
  • Finally garnish with coriander leaves
  • Serve it with any pickle
