Turiya Chutney

Turiya Chutney / Beerakaya Pachadi


Ingredients :
  • Tender Turiya - medium size 1
  • Green chilly - 3
  • Red Chilly - 1
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, diced
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Urad dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Channa dal - 1/4 tsp
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • Pinch of Asafoetida
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Tamarind - inch
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 2 tsp
Procedure to make Turiya Chutney :
  • Clean the turiya and cut it into pieces
  • Heat oil in a small non-stick pan over medium heat

  • Add one after the other, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal, red chilly, diced garlic, curry leaves, green chilly, pinch of turmeric, pinch of asafoetida, fry till light golden brown
  • Add diced turiya, some salt and tamarind and stir it.
  • Cook till soft and switch off the stove
  • In a food processor, add the mixture and grind it well ( add if anything needed )
  • Shift the chutney into serving bowl and garnish with red chilies
  • Serve it with rice or chapati
